That sentence traveled through the company faster than any official memo.

“Yes.”
“And?”
“I think someone else might have helped eventually.”
Michael shook his head.
“Maybe. But not that day. Not that way.”
I did not answer.
Some moments only look small before they happen.
After orientation, the new deaf employee, Marisol’s younger cousin, approached me.
I’m nervous, she signed.
I smiled.

I looked around the lobby.
